DON
LAURIE
"Breeding means
to think in generations."
This breeding wisdom applies to Don Laurie in many
ways: he obviously inherited his type and presence
from his great grandsire on the dam's side, Absatz.
His dam line has been laced with State Premium mares
for generations and through the famous sire,
Weltmeyer (out of the granddam, Anka), it is surely
one of the most influential in the entire Hanoverian
breeding area. Anka produced several first class
advanced level dressage horses and is a full sister
of the sires Abgott (Dillenburg) and Amazonas
(Rhineland).
Don Laurie's
sire, Don Schufro, an extremely successful dressage
horse in Denmark ridden by Andreas Helgstrand and
the sire of Diamond Hit, ranked at the top of the FN
breeding value statistics for dressage sires (178
points) for many years right up to 2005. And with
one of the most outstanding Thoroughbred sires in
modern day breeding as his dam's sire, Lauries
Crusador (known for Lesotho/Ellen Schulten-Baumer,
Le Bo/Carola Koppelmann, Le Primeur/Marie-Line
Wettstein/CH and many others), Don Laurie has a
pedigree that was bred for dressage for generations
and ensures reliable dressage traits.
At his Stallion
Performance Test in Neustadt/Dosse in 2003, his
affinity for dressage was underlined by a score of
133.79 (4th out of 46) in the index for dressage.
His first foals
are highly pleasing in type, presence and movement
quality.
