D-DAY
At the stallion classification in
Neustadt-Dosse, Germany 1996, D-Day was the top
dressage stallion. He had as many as five 10's in
his protocol! Rideability and cooperative attitude
both scored 10.
All the six finalists at the
Swedish 1999 "Foal of the Year" were sired by D-Day!
Out of his first Swedish 3-year olds 2001, 14
received Dressage Diploma and 3 Showjumping Diploma.
53% received Class I !!!
The D-Day progeny are
consistently of outstanding quality with fantastic
movements, wonderful temperament and all the
expression and presence needed for international
competition.
By the way, Eric Lette, the
former FEI "Dressage Chief" and presently Swedish
national dressage coach now has a wonderful
6-year-old, named B-Day, by D-Day, showing great
promise for the future.
D-Day is sired by the Donnerhall
son Donnerschwee, in 1992 he was the most expensive
($220,000) horse to be sold at the elite auction in
Vechta, Germany. Two full brothers, Deutsche Order
and Dr Lobo also sold for record breaking sums.
Donnerschwee is by the
outstanding stallion Donnerhall, who combined a
sports career at international Grand Prix level with
a remarkable breeding performance which is echoed in
his breeding index of 160 for dressage, 132 for
showjumping and 146 overall. He is the sire of such
top class horses as Don Primero, Grading and Federal
Champion in Germany and Don Schufro, who achieved an
index of 150 for dressage when performance tested
and finished as Champion as well as over 60 other
graded sons and many top international dressage
geldings and mares. Donnerschwee’s dam Weltwunder
was National Champion in 1986 at Aix la Chapel. Her
sire Freiherr was a true dual-purpose stallion,
producing 8 graded stallions including the fabulous
Feiner Stern (now in the USA), the international
dressage horse Flashdancer and the international
showjumpers Flying Scot, BB Freiherr and Fiorucci
006. Her grandsire is the great Furioso II who
produced over 200 state premium mares and at least
70 approved stallions worldwide. His full brother is
the French stallion Mexico, the sire of the great Le
Mexico, who in turn is the paternal grandsire of
Ferro.
After scoring 121.66 for
rideability in his performance test, he has gone on
to achieve great success both in competition,
winning Championships at such events at the German
Riding Horse Championships at Warendorf, and siring
top class sport horses. His total winnings to date
are well over £200,000. In 2005 he will be based in
the U.S.A to further their breeding programmes.
The Dam, Rudira is by the famous
Welt As. He was Premium Stallion of the 1981
Oldenburg licensing, and went on to sire 14 approved
sons and over 60 State Premium mares. He was also
the sire of expensive auction horses, including
Worcester who sold for DM42,000 as a dressage
prospect at the 1989 PSI Auction. Welt As has sired
both showjumpers and dressage horses with his most
famous son being Bonfire, World Cup and Olympic Gold
medal Dressage Champion, but another son, Leroy
Brown was a Reserve for the 1992 German Olympic
showjumping team and went on to compete at the WEG
in Den Haag, ridden by Wout-Jan van der Schans. Welt
As was also the sire of Christine Stückleberger's
international Grand Prix dressage competitor Diamond
VIII.
His sire, the Hanoverian
stallion, Weltmeister was the sire of 34 Licensed
stallion sons, and 56 State Premium mares. He was
also the sire of Robert Dover's Grand Prix dressage
representative, Walzertakt and Gerd Wiltfang's
showjumper, Warum10. The Weltmeister son,
Westminster sired Franke Sloothaak's showjumping
star, Weihaiwej. Weltmeister's sire, Wedekind was
the leading son of the famous Ferdinand.
Weltmeister's dam, Domdoro is by
Don Carlos, the sire of 43 State Premium winners and
24 licensed stallions. The Don Carlos son, Dynamo,
sired Dollar Girl, Nick Skelton's showjumping
sensation. Welt As' dam, Elfene is from the great
Oldenburg mare line of Elfenbraut and is regarded as
one of the best daughters of Furioso II. Elfene was
a DLG mare, as was her dam, the State Premium mare,
Elfenbraut IV who eleven times in a row won the
title 'best mare' at the Cloppenburg Show in the
heart of Oldenburg horse breeding territory.
