CON SHERRY
The Sire,
Contendro I is one of the most popular Holstein
sires of the present day. He was awarded Premium
status at the 1999 Approvals and was the winner of
the Performance Test at Adelheidsdorf in 2000,
receiving the highest score in both showjumping and
dressage. In 2001 he was one of the highest placing
participants at the Holstein Riding Horse
Championships, and was nominated for the
Bundeschampionat for German riding horses. Foals by
Contendro I tend to be very dark in color with
outstanding paces and strikingly beautiful faces.
Numerous foals have been awarded Premium status, and
many have been sold at the foal auctions in Verden
for well above average prices. In 2004, 11 of his
sons successfully completed their Licensing at
Verden, Neumünster, Münster-Handorf and Kreuth. The
State Studs at Celle , Neustadt Dosse and
Schwaiganger all stand stallions by Contendro I, as
do many privately owned stallion stations.
The Damsire, Calypso I had a smooth, harmonious
topline with a well carried neck and lots of
expression. Beautiful shoulder and wither. Strong
bone, correct legs and feet with high set on hocks.
Well defined joints. Marvelous mover. Calypso I was
an incredibly important sire to the Holsteiner breed
and consistently passed on his best qualities to all
of his offspring. Offspring have elegant Calypso
type and are endowed with fabulous basic gaits with
fantastic trot and all show extraordinary jumping
ability. Offspring are correct and elastic with
scope as dressage horses and jumpers.Calypso I
produced 10 approved sons and 147 approved
daughters.Calypso I was approved in 1975.
