COINTREAU
Cointreau is a
young stallion with an amazing pedigree. In the
third generation you can see a double cross to the
amazing Calypso II. The bloodlines contain the best
Holstein and hannover have to offer.
The Sire
Contendro I is one of the most popular Holstein
sires of the present day. He was awarded Premium
status at the 1999 Approvals and was the winner of
the Performance Test at Adelheidsdorf in 2000,
receiving the highest score in both showjumping and
dressage. In 2001 he was one of the highest placing
participants at the Holstein Riding Horse
Championships, and was nominated for the
Bundeschampionat for German riding horses. Foals by
Contendro I tend to be very dark in color with
outstanding paces and strikingly beautiful faces.
Numerous foals have been awarded Premium status, and
many have been sold at the foal auctions in Verden
for well above average prices. In 2004, 11 of his
sons successfully completed their Licensing at
Verden, Neumünster, Münster-Handorf and Kreuth. The
State Studs at Celle , Neustadt Dosse and
Schwaiganger all stand stallions by Contendro I, as
do many privately owned stallion stations.
The Damsire, Carbid was runner-up of the Stallion
Performance Test in 1993. He is a high quality son
of the Holsteiner sire Calypso II, who became famous
as an excellent producer of outstanding jumping
horses. Successful performance genes are also found
in the pedigree Carbid's dam: the sire Graphit
counts among the special treasures in the Hanoverian
breed. The progeny of Carbid are characterised by
excellent jumping abilities and a top rideability.
His daughter Carmina Burana was winner of the
Federal Mare Show in 1998 and also winner of the
Louis-Wiegels-Show in 1999 and the Ratje-Niebuhr
Show in 2000.
The double-cross Grandsire,
Calypso II was a stunning personality and his blood
is considered very valuable in various German
warmblood breeds. He is holding high indices for
producing sport horses such as Capella (life income
85,096 DM), Champ of class (life income 45,692 DM)
or Chin Chin (life income 73,121 DM) who are doing
extremely well in the jumpers next to more than 40
Calypso II children who have won over 1,000 DM in
jumping during the 2000 season. Less known is there
is also a respectable group of 13 S-level dressage
horses such as Charly Brown or Ghinia and others
sired by this stallion. Calypso II himself was shown
in showjumping up to FEI level and is currently
holding a dressage index of 114 jumping index of 138
due to his offspring in shows.
In 2001 he had 255 registered Hannoverian
broodmares, 43 of them with a States Premium title
and no less than 18 Licensed hannoverian sons such
as Celle State Studs Carbid, Chasseur, ,
Carismo,
Compliment,
Champ, Classiker and last but not least Contender to
name just a few of them.
According to the Hannoverian Verband's 2001 stallion
yearbook he is also holding high indices for
improving his daughters limb conformation (116),
Dressage ability (132) with a focus on canter and
rideability where he scores 149 and 146, and
obviously jumping technique and ability which earns
him scores of 167 overall including 165 for ability
and scope and 161 for manner and technique. Truly a
valuable and versatile producer. Calypso II was at
first standing at the Celle State Stud beginning at
Hänigsen in 1987, then switched to Schillerslage
station for 1989. In 1990 he moved to the Kemmers at
Amselhof Walle where he served at stud and lived
until his death in 2000. |
