EH CAPRIMOND
Caprimond was vice-champion of the 1987 stallion
approval in Neumünster. In 1988 he became
vicechampion three-year old at the German Riding
Horse Championship in Schenefeld and won the
stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf. Then in
1989, Caprimond was awarded first prize at the DLG
Exhibition in Frankfurt. He rapidly climbed the
highest rungs of his career ladder in the dressage
sport and had many wins and high placements in
dressage horse tests at the intermediate and
advanced levels, up to and including Grand Prix. He
is meanwhile being utilised as a junior training
horse by the teenager Theresa Wahler and has already
had exciting appearances in the context of Gala
Shows in Neumünster and Oldenburg. In 2002, the pair
won their first advanced dressage events.
Caprimond has been covering at the Klosterhof
Medingen studfarm since1988 and has become one of
the most influential representatives of his breed
since the Second World War. He has thus far,
produced 13 approved sons, including the eminent
pair of brothers Canaster I and II (both private
stallions Oldenburg), Hohenstein I and II (Lower
Saxony resp. Hungary) and Tanzmeister I and II
(Rhineland-Palatinate-Saar resp. Lower Saxony). The
son Caprigold, who was reared in Brandenburg was the
approval winner of his age class in 1996, whilst
Contucci, who was approved in Hanover, won a number
of riding horse classes before he was transferred to
the USA and Sponeck was a highly placed finalist at
the Federal Championship. From today’s perspective,
the most distinguished stallion son is Hohenstein I,
who has already presented a number of approved sons
in diverse breeds and is a successful sports horse
up to Grand Prix. Apart from many first class
premium mares, Caprimond also presented the best
German three-year old mare Donaumärchen II, on the
occasion of the Federal Mare Show, who was also a
member of the Federal Champion Family. In 1995,
Caprimond was declared “elite Trakehner stallion”
and in 1998 he became Trakehner “stallion of the
year”. His successful sports progeny have made him
one of the most important transmitters of dressage
for years now, according to the FN breeding value
statistics. The Wahler family erected a life-sized
bronze statue in his honour at the Klosterhof
Medingen in 1996.
His Sire Karon initially covered at the
Hämelschenburg studfarm and was promoted far as a
riding horse. He covered in Oldenburg in 1989 and
1990 and thus managed to be represented in diverse
state horse breeds before he dropped out of breeding
due to a fractured pelvis. The approved riding
stallion Chantilly is a full-brother of Caprivi’s
dam Coeur-As, who is also a full-sister of Uwe
Sauer’s Grand Prix horse Caro Bube. Caprimond’s
lineage goes back to the mare family of Cajenne 6
(by Trara-Imbert-Cid-Hallore).
The Damsire Mackensen was decorated as an elite
stallion of the Trakehner Association. This
bloodline moreover produced six additional approved
sons including the significant Carajan (private
stallion Holstein, Rhineland- Palatinate-Saar),
Carlton (private stallion Bavaria), Chateauneuf and
Cordial (both private stallions Lower Saxony) as
well as Cortez (private stallion Baden-Württemberg).
