CADDINGTON

Caddington passed his Performance Test in 2004 at Neustadt Dosse with absolute highlights for his jumping ability.

Highly refined bloodlines, with wonderful style and unique good looks, Caddington is probably one of the best looking and most noble Cathargo Z sons. He is a revelation at the fence, his jumping ability is phenomenal, he can jump the highest of fences with the greatest of ease.

The Sire, Carthago Z, at his Performance Test, earned a 9.5 for free jumping and a 10 for jumping talent. Cathago Z finished in 11th place at the Atlanta Games with Jos Lanskink and the pair were members of the Dutch team at the Sydney Olympic Games. In all the combination competed in 15 Nations Cups. In 2001, the stallion, who had been leased to Leon Melchior since 1995, returned to his birthplace in Schleswig-Holstein and the Holsteiner Verband.

The Dam, Leonarda, is a daughter of the internationally successful stallion, Corofino I, who is rated by breeding insiders as the best of the Corrado I sons. In the third generation the Thoroughbred stallion, Sir Shostakovich xx, adds the necessary touch of robustness so highly esteemed in Holstein breeding and the pedigree is rounded off by Caletto I, a highly significant sire not only in breeding but in sport as well. This relatively young Holstein line 7126 has produced a good number of performance horses in recent years and spread quickly. The mare line, which is inseparably connected to the Rumohr-Hemmelsdorf breeding farm, has produced entire stallion dynasties, e.g. Acobat I-III, Acord I-III, Aktionär I and II, Al Cantino, Athletico, Avero, Bavaria Luchs, Burggraf (NL), Carinthiado, Catango Z, Charisma, Chicago, Concas, Cortus, Eldino, Exodus, Fra Diavolo, Freeman and Lady's King.

The Grandsire Capitol I, "Capitol has been the best advertisement for Holstein. He is esteemed for his exceptional jumping traits, enormous ability and his uncomplicated willingness to perform, characteristics that he unconditionally passes on to his children", is the way Dr. Thomas Nissen, the breeding director of the Holstein Verband, expresses it.

The yearling Capitol I was bought by the Holsteiner Verband, and he soon established himself as one of the great showjumping sires, represented internationally by jumpers such as Corso (ridden by the Swiss, Willi Meliger), JR Number One (exported to the United States), Caruso Rex, Calle, and most notably of recent times, Cento, a Team Gold Medallist at the Sydney Games, and who missed out of an individual medal by just one rail! Cento is winner of the $1,000,000 CN Rail Class at Spruce Meadows.
The grey stallion Capitol I, who was the sole upholder of the Cottage Son xx line in Holstein for many years presented a number of stallion sons including Calato, Cassini, Carthago, Campione, Carolus I and II, Capriol and Campesino, who have placed their ancestor’s genotype on a broader basis once again. Capitol passes on his valuable genes through more than 21 approved sons and 273 registered mares. With a breeding value of 154 points, he stands among the top ten jumper sires in Germany
